Vico Magistretti

"Simplicity is one of the most complicated things in the world" this quote sums up a lot about Vico, about his works. It can adapt perfectly to other fields, music comes to mind: many songs that have entered the imagination are essentially simple, few chords, but nothing is obvious or banal. The result of a night lamp like Eclisse (brand Artemide) with which he won the Compasso d'Oro can be an example.

It became so famous that in an interview she declared "I don't like it anymore, perhaps because I don't like being identified with an object". (Casamica 1974). The human side behind the idea, his identification as an architect and not a designer, approved the trend that existed at the time to demythologize the designer, (1974) a trend that I think has been reversed in more recent times, exalting the role and idealizing it perhaps excessively.

In her career she has received the Compasso d'Oro award four times, as well as other international awards, there are his works in the permanent collections at the MoMA in New York as well as at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The pictures are about  two lamps, the Armilla, which comes from a folded sheet of metal and the Troco, where the processing of the lampshade glass represents the very solution of the lamp.
