Michele De Lucchi was one of the radical designers on the Italian scene. In the orbit of Sottsass, who first invited him to join the Alchimia group, and then together he founded the Memphis Group where a series of great designers and artists entered (Andrea Branzi, Arata Isozaki, Alessandro Mendini, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Javier Mariscal and others ). The group's works have a strong identity matrix starting from the colors, which accentuate the unusual shapes, exemplary are the Carlton bookcase, the Bel Air armchair, and the Tahiti lamp.

Engineer Gismondi and architect Mazza founded it in the 50s and at the beginning the architect was the only designer. In the late 50s and early 60s other designers were introduced, BBPR, Ponti, and then Magistretti who had the greatest commercial success with Eclisse. Still active and always at an international level, it maintains high levels of quality combined with modern design.
